The third season of “The Voice” kicked off three weeks ago- have you been watching? We have! The show is such a hit that we’ve decided to write a weekly column every Monday previewing the action. We want to hear about your predictions as well!
The show is still in its tryout episodes, so our predictions will begin next week. For now, we’ll recap who made the cut last week and which super star coach they chose: Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green or Adam Levine.
On Monday night, children’s much teacher Suzanna Choffel blew away the coaches with her Stevie Nick’s sound and ended up on Blake’s team. Cutie Dez Duron failed to turn any chairs last year, but returned with confidence and turned three this time! After a bit of flirting, the sure-to-be teenybopper favorite picked Christina, who did a little “happy dance” to celebrate. Contestant VJ provided the night’s most memorable moment when he bravely picked Cee Lo’s own “Forget You.” No chairs turned, but Cee Lo made VJ’s night by joining him on stage to duet. Seventeen-year-old Brandon Mahone impressed with his Motown sound and chose Adam, Jordan Pruitt chose fellow former Disney star Christina and the sassy and confident Terisa Griffin surprised the crowd by picking Blake over Christina.
Sylvia Yacoub, whose family moved from Egypt when she was young, was the first to audition on Tuesday. Sylvia belted out “Only Girl in the World” by Rihanna, and spun three chairs! After some heartfelt offers, Sylvia chose Christina’s team. That wasn’t the only fight though- Blake and Adam battled it out for smog-test worker Charlie Rey, who impressed everyone, especially the ladies in the audience. Charlie picked Blake, who literally opened his arms to him. The final contestant of the night was Cassadee Pope, former lead singer of a female pop punk band who once toured with Fall Out Boy. Cassadee received two standing ovations, and ultimately picked Blake as well. At the end of the night, all coaches had 14 singers on their teams, with just two slots to fill before the battle rounds begin.
What did you think of last week’s episodes of The Voice? Who was your favorite contestant, and which coach do you think has the strongest team? What do you think will happen tonight, as the coaches compete to fill their final spots?
