The Bay Area may be known as an epicenter for earthquakes, but this weekend it becomes an epicenter for events! San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose are buzzing with excitement- just in time for Indian Summer. Where do we start? For the first time since 2003, both the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics made the Major League Baseball playoffs (find tickets.) The San Francisco 49ers, fresh off a dominating defensive performance that has its fans thinking about the Super Bowl, host the Buffalo Bills (find tickets.) The America’s Cup World Series runs through the weekend- what could be more picturesque than sailboats on the San Francisco Bay with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background?
Sporting events not your thing? No problem. Florence and the Machine rock Mountain View, Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen hit Oakland and Madonna performs double duty in San Jose. Not to be forgotten- comedian Kevin Hart brings the laughs to Oakland as well.
How would you choose to spend your time in the Bay Area this weekend?
We know most of you don’t live in San Francisco and we don’t want to make you too jealous, so here are some other ideas for your weekend:
- Former nemesis Peyton Manning returns to Foxboro for the first time as a Denver Bronco to take on the New England Patriots (find tickets.) We’re sure Patriots fans will welcome him back with open arms.
- The battle for the Keystone State is renewed in Pittsburgh as the Steelers take on the visiting Philadelphia Eagles (find tickets.) The Eagles may be 3-1, but those three victories are by a combined four points. Expect another close game.
- A diverse set of artists descends upon Washington, D.C. on Saturday for Virgin Mobile FreeFest. Jack White, Skrillex, M83, Santigold, ZZ Top, Alabama Shakes, Nas and Ben Folds Five are all slated to take the stage.
- Last but not least… now that it’s October, Halloween activities are in full swing. Your ghoulish option of the week at the movies is Tim Burton’s family-friendly Frankenweenie. Haunted houses and hayrides have also opened, so prepare for thrills and chills!
