If you’re like me, you’ve been saving up your credit card points so you can share a special moment with Alicia Keys. If it worked for the guy in the commercial, why can’t it work for me?
What’s that you say? Reality? Fine, but I can still enjoy her music. That song you heard in the credit card commercial is the title track from her new album, Girl On Fire. Her first album in over three years, Girl On Fire is being heralded as a return to form for the songstress. Her 2002 debut, Songs in A Minor, captivated the music industry, sold over 12 million copies and won multiple Grammy Awards, but her subsequent releases have seen diminishing commercial success (with the notable exception of her collaboration with Jay Z, “Empire State of Mind.”) Critics are praising Girl On Fire, calling it Keys’ most complete album-to-date, straddling the line between artistic integrity and commercial appeal. You’re so excited about Girl On Fire, you’re dying to know- how else can you share your love of Keys’ music? You can post videos of adoration on YouTube, tattoo her lyrics all over your body or if you want people to really think you’re crazy, you can try to see her in concert. Unfortunately, the only tour dates Keys has announced at the moment are in Europe next spring. If you are a super-fan, you could consider flying across the pond to catch a show… but, we recommend staying patient until she announces her North American dates. After all, you’re going to have to spend most of those credit card points you’ve been saving up (and you probably won’t even get to meet her!)
