25 hottest or 40 hottest - you decide

We bumped the number of "hottest" demands from 25 to 40 on the Hottest Demands Worldwide page yesterday. So it's now essentially a "Top 40" list of the latest up-to-the-minute activity in Eventful Demand.

It's an experiment to see if the increased exposure of demands encourages more people to join. It does mean the page takes a little bit longer to load, but we think it's worth it. Do you? Let us know: feedback @ eventful.com, or just post a comment to this blog post.

MTV News covers Eventful.com

Be sure to check out the cool story over at MTV News this morning about Eventful! It includes photo of Ozomatli, and mentions that performer, as well as a bunch of others including Wil Wheaton, Constantin Maroulis, Ben Jelen, and Mute Math.

When they contacted us this past Monday morning for an interview, the system was just hitting 4,000 demands. This morning we're already at 5,100 and counting!

3500 demands and counting!

On July 2nd I posted in here about our exceeding 2000 demands in the system. The other day it looked like we'd hit 2500 demands, but then before I could even blog about that, we passed 3000. Before I even had a chance to blog about that, the number has now passed 3500. In fact by tonight we'll pass 3600!

As of this posting, Wil Wheaton is still in the lead with the most people demanding him (3438) in 150 places. The hottest demands right now are for a band called Mute Math, which in the span of only 48 hours have gotten 1059 people demanding 'em in 165 cities! Also notable is Ozomatli, who placed an Eventful Demand sticker right on their home page!

2000 Demands and Counting!

This morning we passed 2000 total demands in Eventful Demand. Absolutely amazing. It's growing quickly thanks to all the activity in blogs, Myspace, and other sites.

Today's also a notable day because Wil Wheaton makes his appearance in Boston thanks to the hundreds of fans who demanded him to come to their town. Good luck, Wil!
