An Afternoon & Walk with Local Artist, Kwadwo Adae

Join us for an afternoon with local visual artist and muralist, Kwadwo Adae, who has orchestrated and installed fifteen collaborative mural projects both locally and internationally since 2015.   We will begin the afternoon at OISS for a 30 minute discussion with Adae about his work, public art, and some background on the Mothers, Daughters, & Sisters Of The Firelight mural that we will walk to following the talk.  At 4pm we will begin the walk on the Farmington Canal Trail and we will stop along the way to continue our conversation and point out another mural by Kwadwo. Please note that the walk is approximately two miles, and will take about 50-60 minutes. We will end at the Mothers, Daughters & Sisters Of The Firelight mural where you can enjoy the public art that we've discussed throughout the afternoon. We will end with an optional walk back to Fussy Coffee where you can enjoy some of their famous fries and good company.   Kwadwo Adae is a visual artist, muralist, and founder of the Adae Fine Art Academy; an independent drawing and painting school located at 817 Chapel Street in downtown New Haven. Adae has been teaching children, young adults, and adults since 2005 and runs a Mobile Art Studio that conducts art lessons for elderly artists in the Alzheimer's & dementia wards of assisted living centers; children in afters school programs; young adults at in mental health clinics; and adults in transitional living facilities for people living with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You can view more of his work on Instagram and Facebook.  Note: Open to the Yale Community. Please register to attend.
