      PCO CEU Day Class Agenda: L&O: 8:00 am - 10:00 am with Dr. Adam Dale, UF/IFAS Entomologist and Aaron Martin, Sales Rep Helena CORE: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with Sgt. Everett, FHP (safety/law) and Benjamin Hefty, Environmental Services Break: 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm GHP:  12:30 pm – 2:30 pm with Paul Mitola, FDACS Inspector Termite:  2:30 pm – 4:30 pm with Dr. Faith Oi, UF/IFAS Entomologist Pest Control Operator—Lawn and Ornamental Pest Control (Chapter 482) Overview of plant diseases and associated plant damage Signs and symptoms, and managing disease on plants using IPM Overview of weed types and identifying common weeds Managing weeds in landscapes using IPM and appropriately labeled pesticides Types of herbicides: pre vs. post, contact vs. systemic will be reviewed General Standards (Core) Exam -  Select the right pesticide for the job. Review the label. Know what personal protective equipment to wear. Transport and mix pesticides safely. Clean up after an application or spill. General Household Pest Control - will cover: Common pests and management strategies Identifying pest problems How to correctly create a product rotation plan Why product rotation is important What are modes of action, how to find them on a label and why they are important WDO Management - will cover: Life cycle, social structure, and anatomy of termites, carpenter bees and carpenter ants as well as beetles so PMPS can accurately identify the correct species requiring control treatments Recognition of damage symptoms will be discussed, enabling treatment applicators to manage for them and apply the best control measures CEUs: 2 L&O, LLO, O&T, LCLM, ROW (Session 1,  8:00 am - 10:00 am) 2 CORE (Session 2, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm) 2 GHP (Session 3, 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm) 2 Commercial Termite (Session 4, 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm) Registration - Registration is required.  Registration on the day of the event will be charged an additional $10.00 fee. Cancellations - If your class is canceled for any reason you will be notified no less than 24 hours prior to class start. We will provide a full refund for cancellations made by Manatee County Extension. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process. Refunds - Refunds will be made in the event of a class cancellation or if the registrant requests a refund 24 hours prior to the class time.
