Kyla has been a hot commodity all across the country with incredibly powerful viral poems like “White Privilege” and “The Breakup”, and Niko has been known to kill it alongside the rest of the Queen City Poetry Slam Team, so needless to say…IT’S ABOUT TO GO DOOOWNNNNNN. Vasaboo Group will be back in the building laying down the sweet and silky grooves, hosts Al Black and Michael A. Murray will be back with the usual debauchery, and YOU will hopefully bless us with your talents on the Open Mic! In an effort to put on even bigger and better shows than we’ve been blessed to have for the past almost two years there is a small cover of only $5 now, but I can promise you each and every cent will be absolutely worth it J Show starts at 7:30pm, come thru and bring your beautiful crew!!   Feature Bios:   Kyla Jenée Lacey Kyla Jenee, an accomplished third person bio composer, is the daughter of two very lucky parents, for not only is she their favorite daughter, she is also their only daughter. As a gifted fetus, her accomplishments were being a prized amniotic swimmer, and eater;  she weighed in at a mere 10lbs, 7oz, at her much celebrated birth. The nurse, marveling out this huge ass baby paraded her around the hospital, because well, she was ridiculously big, and back then, they didn't care nearly as much about communicable diseases. Kyla pays most of her bills via her writing, which includes, but is not limited to, spoken word, and blogging.  Her spoken word has garnered millions of views, and has been showcased on Afropunk, George Takei, Write About Now, All Def Digital, and Occupy Democrats, and Golden Mic TV. She has performed spoken word at over 200 colleges in over 40 states.  Kyla has been a finalist in the largest regional poetry slam in the country, no less than 4 times, and was nominated as Campus Activities Magazine Female Performer of the Year. She has written for large publications such as the Huffington Post,, and the Root Magazine and is the author of "Hickory Dickory Dock, I Do Not Want Your C*ck!!!," a book of tongue-in-cheek poems, about patriarchy....for manchildren. She is owned by two black cats, Kit and Kaboodle, feels that recycling is something so simple, that even a cave man could do it, is a semi-vegetarian because she has commitment issues, loves Chuck Taylors and Thai Food, arts and crafts, men who look good in suits.....and poems, and wants to be a kid when she grows up. Niko   Nick "Niko" Thompson is an artist and writer who claims Cincinnati as his home. Raised in a household that was no stranger to the sounds of Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Metallica, he became consumed with using art and music to share stories with people. The poetry community fostered this love and led to him joining the Queen City Poetry Slam team in early 2010. Many changes and life events have taken place since then, but his love of poetry and the incredible people who form the arts community has only grown.
