ARTS IN THE COMMUNITY AWARD – Bank Street Group The Bank Street Group, comprised of Bank Street Investments and Village Green Events, epitomizes a business in support of the arts, as its inception was to as a catalyst for downtown growth and development through its acquisition, renovation and professional operation of the Bank Street Movie Theater. Located in the heart of downtown New Milford, their belief that the theater was the key to creating and sustaining a thriving downtown scene, was put into action, serving as a model for investment in community and the arts. HEART OF THE ARTS AWARD – Anthony Depoto Mr. Depoto is passionate in bringing theatre education to all ages of youth in Greater Danbury (from preschool -college, and beyond). His focus is on the learning process and not just the product. He also brings in the older age groups to help out with the younger age groups which is both empowering to the future young theatre interns as well as appealing and relevant to the young theatre students to have their older peers leading them. He continues to lead a beautiful young and thriving theatre arts community in greater Danbury. ART IMPACTS LIFE AWARD – Village Center for the Arts The community of New Milford would not be the same without Village Center for the Arts, driven by the relentless passion of Executive Director, Sharon Kaufman. There is virtually not an event held in town that they do not touch. The school system benefits by their direct programming. The Children’s Center and other nonprofits partner with VCA on an ongoing basis. The large, community arts event, Paint the People, with 4,000 visitors annually, was created by VCA.
