Toddler Tennis!

In this fun and functional class we bring tennis instruction all the way down to the basics: we learn where our bodies are on the courts (half size), the names of the lines and other tennis objects, how to stand in line, how to move our bodies safely while challenging ourselves, how to hold a racket, how to catch and throw a ball, and so much more! Toddler Tennis - Session 1: What is tennis? Learning about the court and how to hold a racket, how to stand in line, shuffles, skipping, jumping jacks, etc. Session 2: All of the above plus more complex movements and games. Session 3: All of the above plus hand eye-coordination drills; agility, balance. Session 4: All of the above, combining movements for enhanced gross motor skill connections. In each class, we will work with different manipulatives (foam balls, felt balls, nubby balls, bean bags, scarves, etc.) to enhance different hand-eye coordination, depth perception, balance, mid-line crossing, and gross motor skills. Some classes will end with 'tennis play' where children will stand and swing at a drop in feed ball, but we will not be focusing on any specific tennis techniques in this class as they are simply too young.
