      Be prepared to experience the wondrous world of the Mexica/Aztec people in an intimate and personal lecture by artist and musician Michael Heralda. Throughout his cultural and highly educational event you will learn about the indigenous philosophy, language, ceremonies, traditions and foods of the Mexica/Aztec people all from an indigenous perspective. The importance of native philosophy as understood by the Mexica/Aztec people and how deeply integrated it was in their daily life will be shared. Heralda will also discuss the connections between humans and plants, the Xinachtli concept -its symbolism and importance- and the seven warrior foods of the Mexica/Aztec.


      Bio:
      Michael Heralda is an artist, composer, storyteller and poet. Since 1995 he has shared his lectures and interactive Aztec Stories presentations with interested listeners and participants of all ages across the United States. During his music presentations he introduces numerous hand-made indigenous styled instruments like the Huehuetl drums, Teponaztli drums, numerous clay flutes, gourd water drums and many other percussive instruments. He has also recorded three CD’s. He shares his work at schools (K-12), colleges, universities, museums, culture centers, libraries and family festivals. He describes his Aztec Stories programs as "Edu-tainment for all ages”!
