      ARTMAKERS 2019 This event is an explosion of art experiences for children in 5K - 12th grades. There are sessions led by instructors and drop-in activities. Participants can select from a variety of art-based activities and create their own works of art with artists and organizations from across the state.  Check-in/registration begins at 2:00 PM ALL CHILDREN AGES 11 AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AT ALL TIMES! THE FOLLOWING CLASSES ARE FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE. PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ONLINE REGISTRATION TO RESERVE YOUR PLACE. YOU MAY ATTEND MORE THAN ONE SESSION.   Iridescent Art     Presented by Science South Catching a rare glimpse of the optical phenomenon known as iridescence can be both exciting and captivating. Participants will capture and preserve this fascinating array of colors and learn how to replicate it and expand on what they have learned. Grades: 5K-12th Times: 3:00 - 3:15 PM / 3:30 -3:45 PM / 4:00 - 4:15 PM / 4:30 - 4:45 PM / 5:00 - 5:15 PM / 5:30 - 5:45 PM Be a Star Painter Presented by Staci Purvis Ready to paint a dreamy masterpiece? Explore the art of painting and create your very own "Starry Night" on canvas. Students of all levels from beginner to advanced are welcome. All you need is a little creativity and everything else will be provided. Grades: 5K - 12th Times: 2:00 - 2:50 PM / 3:00 - 3:50 PM / 4:00 - 4:50 PM Art Supplies and More! Presented by The Governor's School for Arts and Humanities Every young artist needs art supplies! Join us as we create our own drawing satchels and art journals from recycled, common, everyday objects. Participants will explore the importance of recycling and how to be a resouceful artist. They will also get to use their newly made materials to explore and appreciate nature through art techniques like texture rubbings and leaf printing. Grades: 5K - 12th Times: 2 -2:50 PM / 3 - 3:50PM / 4 - 4:50    Can't You Sea? Presented by Franklin G. Burroughs - Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum Prevent single-use plastic from ending up in our oceans by creating a rainbow wind mobile from plastic bottles. Grades: 5K - 8th Times: 2:00 - 2:30 PM / 2:35 - 3:05 PM/ 3:10 - 3:45 PM / 3:50 - 4:25 PM / 4:30 -5:00 PM   DROP-IN SESIONS Presented by Durant Children's Center, Florence County 4-H, Florence County Museum, Florence School District 3, Good Clean Fun, Ladybug Arts Studio, Moore Farms Botanical Garden, Science South, Such-A-Storyteller, Sumter County Gallery of Art, The Greater Lake City Community Resource Center and much more! These classes are open to drop-in participants. These do not require registration. Participants may attend more than one session.
