      The Amazing Hubble Space Telescope

As part of the Library’s celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing, Russell L. Werneth, a NASA aerospace engineer for the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Project at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland will present very interesting information on the successful HST servicing missions from 1993-2009. This will include astronaut training, unique space tool development, and the spectacular scientific images taken by Hubble over its 29+ years on orbit.
Russ was GSFC’s ExtraVehicular Activity (EVA – astronaut spacewalk) Manager for the Hubble Project. He contributed to numerous programs throughout his long Federal career, but he earned the most acclamation for his many efforts during the five very successful Hubble servicing missions.
