      Treasures in the Attic

      The Yamhill County Historical Society (YCHS) will be presenting “Treasures in the Attic” Quilt Show, Appraisal Faire & Vintage Market on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the Yamhill Valley Heritage Center, 11275 SW Durham Ln., McMinnville, OR 97128, and we would like to invite you to attend!

      YCHS is committed to sharing the history and heritage of Yamhill County and beyond, and we are excited to present “Treasures in the Attic” to the public once again! The day will include:
      • Three quilt guilds in Yamhill County will join with the Yamhill County Historical Society in displaying over 125 quilts at Treasures in the Attic – Gone to Pieces Quilt Guild, Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and Coastal Hills Quilters. This year’s featured quilt style is the “crazy quilt” (details below from Wikipedia). A variety of quilt styles will be displayed, including heritage crazy quilts dating from the mid-1800’s to the 1920’s from the Yamhill County Historical Society collection.
      • Appraisal Faire with oral evaluations by local experts
      • Vendors
      • Vintage toys, dolls, and musical instruments and novelties on display
      • Quilt Raffle of rustic country style quilt made by Gone to Pieces Quilt Association, who has donated a quilt to the Yamhill County Historical Society each year for the past 4 years to used as a raffle fundraiser. This year’s quilt is a rustic country style design and is valued at $500, all proceeds benefit the Yamhill County Historical Society.
      • During Treasures in the Attic this year, Gone to Pieces will have a “Build a Block” table which allows guests to help create a quilt block. Those quilt blocks will be used to create the raffle quilt for 2020. (For more details, please contact Josie McGill at or visit the September 9 monthly meeting of the Gone to Pieces group at the Yamhill Valley Heritage Center, from 10am-2pm.)
      • Blacksmith and Sawmill demos
      • Special presentations:
      o Bed Turning 10:30-11:00 am and 11:30-12:00 by quilt historian and YCHS member Donna Hulett
      o “19th Century Crazy Quilts” by quilt historian Rachel Greco 12:30-2:00 pm (owner of Grandma's Attic in Dallas, Oregon)
      o Music by the Old Time Fiddlers 2:00-4:00 pm
      • $5 Admission – Kids 6 and under FREE – Indoors – FREE Parking.
