We the People: A Black Plan to End HIV in America Community Townhall

The Black AIDS Institute (BAI) is hosting a townhall meeting in the nation’s civil rights capital, Montgomery, AL, on August 29th to start a conversation about a plan to end HIV in Black America. During this year's State of the Union address in February, the President asked for funding to end the AIDS epidemic within the United States within 10 years, by 2030.  Although the Administration’s plan outlines a medical framework of key areas that must be addressed to end HIV, it doesn’t prioritize the core systemic and social issues that have caused Black communities to be devastated by this disease. BAI, along with other civil rights and social justice partners will unveil the 10-year plan that will emphasize four key areas: (1) Address racism, sexism, transphobia, and xenophobia (2) provide access to comprehensive, quality, and affordable health care (3) Design and fund programs that address key social issues that impact HIV outcomes in Black communities (homelessness, poverty, education, incarceration, and mental health) (4) Build the capacity of Black communities to be the change agents to end HIV. Join us for a conversation and how together we work to end HIV in the Black community.
