Day Trip to Providence, RI for WaterFire

Don't miss our last event of the summer as we head to Providence, RI! We have a big day planned for you, including a campus tour of Brown University and a chance to see WaterFire, one of New England's most treasured summer events.   We will depart from OISS around 12:15pm and arrive in Providence around 2:30pm. We will begin the day at Brown University, one of our sister schools in the Ivy League, which was founded in 1764. We have partnered with the Global Brown Center for International Students, so you will have the chance to meet fellow international students studying at Brown as they will lead our campus tours and share a bit about their experiences at the university.  The tour will end around 4pm, and then you will have free time to explore the rest of Providence on your own. Then, once the sun sets, you will have the option to meet back-up with the group to experience WaterFire together! The WaterFire art installation was created in 1994 by artist, Barnaby Evans, on the rivers of downtown Providence where basins stand in the river and are lit on fire during special events. You will have the opportunity to see a full lighting of over 80 burning braziers and enjoy the festivities around the event!  At 9:15pm we will make our way back to the bus and return to New Haven around 11:30pm (traffic depending). Spaces are limited, so sign-up soon!  Important Notes: Open to the international community at Yale.  If you would like to bring your family along, please note that this trip is only open to children who are 10 or older. Your ticket price includes your roundtrip transportation on an air conditioned bus and a campus tour of Brown University. You are responsible for all other expenses.  This trip is rain or shine - so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the weather.  No refunds will be issued once tickets are purchased.
