      Uma's Evening at the Philharmonia

      Reception at OISS (421 Temple): 6:00pmConcert at Woolsey Hall (500 College St): 7:30pm We are excited to invite international scholars, students, and their families to the Yale Philharmonia's first concert of the season on Friday, September 20th! We will host a light reception at the OISS at 6:00pm and walk over to the concert as a group at 7:00pm.  MOZART: Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major, K.297b, featuring YSM faculty members Stephen Taylor, oboe; David Shifrin, clarinet; Frank Morelli, bassoon; and William Purvis, hornMAHLER: Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor (1902) Principal Conductor Peter Oundjian and the Yale Philharmonia will kick-off the season with a performance of Mahler's Fifth Symphony, about which the composer's one-time assistant, legendary conductor Bruno Walter, wrote, "The world has now a masterpiece which shows its creator at the summit of his life, of his power, and of his ability." We hope you will join us for this incredible evening of music.  NOTE: All Eventbrite tickets must be exchanged for the actual concert tickets at OISS. All tickets must be picked-up at OISS on the evening of the show beginning at 6pm. If you are not coming to the reception, please just make sure to pick-up your actual tickets between 6-7:15pm on the day of the show.
