The winning painting will hang at the Palm Springs Cultural Center for one year. In addition, David Fairrington will paint a portrait of the person who donates the most money to his or her favorite charity (minimum $1,000 donation). The artist will be on site during the opening.  About The Red Kimono II Project Recently, David painted a series called The Red Kimono I Project. A fellow artist was cleaning her studio and offered him an old Japanese Red Kimono to use in his studio. David was inspired to do a series in which the models chose how to reveal themselves, the only requirement being the use of the red kimono. The project was a transformative experience for both the artist and the subjects.  Several of David's gay art students encouraged him to do a series focusing on the LGBTQ+ community. He felt he could do good by showing that people are people, no matter the sexual orientation- as well as demonstrate how important it is that all members of the desert community are be united. The goal of the project is to raise money for organizations that serve the LGBTQ+ community in the Coachella Valley.  About David Fairrington David Fairrington, an internationally known artist, grew up in Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University.
