Conflict De-Escalation & Violence Prevention Workshop for Churches

Verbal Conflict ResolutionThe right techniques can help to de-escalate situations peacefully. When serving in ministry, many will likely deal with conflict. Whether you’re a volunteer on the church security team or the ministry secretary, it’s crucial to know how to defuse a situation verbally, resolving the conflict before it escalates. Today it seems that houses of worship are more at-risk of exposure to violence, and they are ill-prepared to be able to handle possible violent situations confidently. Many churches are establishing Security/Safety Teams, and they are focusing on stopping violence when it arises in terms of a firearms related incidents. While that is a good thing to be prepared for, a majority of the training needs to focus on the critical skills of both communication and conflict resolution.Seems like common sense, right? Most establishments lack the confidence or training necessary to both establish a protocol for conflict resolution and train their current staff/volunteers. This workshop eliminates this problem by beginning to form your critical skills and components needed to get your church up-to-speed for conflict resolution. With our society today, many are offended by the messages that are being sent from your church. You know how things can get out of control, and that we need a strategy for resolving those situations before they escalate to a violent conclusion. That’s where conflict de-escalation techniques come in handy. Anticipating potential conflict is important for preparedness, and there are many verbal and non-verbal cues to be mindful of as situations unfold. In this workshop we will cover the following: Disruptive Persons Remaining Calm and Neutral Active Listening Identifying and reaction to Visual Aggressive Cues Security/Pastor Intervention Identifying when/if force is required Hands On Exercises Snacks, coffee, water, refreshments provided!Come ready to mingle with like minded others wanting more information, and prepared to learn an invaluable lesson plan.
