Super Dance Sunday! November 24th - Not To Be Missed!

Come out for a Super Sunday afternoon mix of Contra and Social Dancing at the Old City Hall. Start off the event with a free Waltz Lesson followed by Contra Dance mingled with a little bit of Rock and Roll to polish the floor!
What is Contra you say? Contra dancing is social interaction, meeting people, and making new friends, set to music. The rest is just details. Otherwise, the only real answer to the question "What is Contra Dance?" comes when you try it. Contra dancing is a great way to get your dance on! Beginners are welcome, and no partner is necessary. If you can walk and know the difference between left and right, you can successfully enjoy Contra dance! Most of the movements are based on a walking step. Dancers move through a number of specific figures, sometimes holding hands, sometimes by themselves. Each dance is prompted by the caller, Lenore Frigo, so that each figure and movement is called in time to the music. You don’t need to rely on your memory alone to know what to do. Contra dance is fun, great exercise, and best of all, you never need to worry about having a partner or experience to dance with us! Redding Community Contra Dancers are very friendly and welcoming, and we love when new people join in. Between Contra dances we will break for social/ballroom dances, usually a Waltz will start it off, and for potluck snacks. We encourage you to bring something to share along with water (fountain is downstairs.)

Old City Hall is at the corners of Market St and Shasta St across from Kobe Seafood & Steakhouse and adjacent to the Fire Station.
Sign in for the event starts at 12:30 with the dance lesson starting promptly at 1:00. Admission is $5.00 and all the proceeds will go to the Old City Hall for operating expenses. The waltz dance lesson will be taught by Ron and Faith Lane with all digital music for the entire event.
