Savannah Music Festival IPA Release featuring Roosevelt Collier & Jontavius Willis

On Friday, February 21, 2020, Savannah Music Festival and Southbound Brewing Co. will celebrate the release of this season's Wailin' IPA with a concert featuring pedal steel guitarist Roosevelt Collier and bluesman Jontavious Willis. This sixth annual festival beer release party continues a collaboration between Savannah Music Festival and Southbound Brewing Company that is fueled by a shared love of live music. In addition to pints and flights of all available Southbound brews, Chazito’s food truck will also be on-site with its full menu of Latin cuisine.

Wailin', a hazy and juicy IPA is a continuation of last year's popular recipe and is freshly brewed specifically for SMF’s 2020 season. The fresh 2020 batch will be available to sample for the first time at this special release party.

Tickets to the release party on Feb. 21 are now on sale at savannahmusicfestival.org, 912.525.5050 and the Savannah Box Office at 216 East Broughton Street. Admission is $20 in advance and $25 day of show. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.!

About Roosevelt Collier: Pedal and lap steel guitarist Roosevelt Collier, affectionately known as “The Dr.”, was brought up in the House of God Church in South Florida, where he built his sacred steel guitar prowess alongside his family in the soul-shaking band The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, live performances. These days Collier has become a sought-after talent both as a recording artist and on stage well-known for flooring audiences with his lightning-fast slide work on the pedal steel. He has performed with The Allman Brothers, Buddy Guy, Del McCoury Band, The String Cheese Incident, Los Lobos, Robert Randolph, and Tedeschi Trucks Band, among countless others. Get ready to get-down to blues, gospel, rock, and funk as the "The Dr." and his band take the stage!

About Jontavious Willis: Referred to by Taj Mahal as “my Wonderboy, the Wunderkind,” 24-year-old Jontavious Willis grew up singing gospel music at church with his grandfather. At the age of 14, the Greenville, Georgia native got hooked on the blues when he came across a YouTube video of Muddy Waters playing "Hoochie Coochie Man." He promptly started teaching himself the guitar, harmonica, banjo and cigar box, and just four years later, he was playing on Taj Mahal’s stage. Willis' 2019 album ‘Spectacular Class’ has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album and several Blues Music Awards by the Blues Foundation including Best Emerging Artist Album.
