      TF-CBT Training in Syracuse

      Presenter:  Jennifer Wilgocki, MS LCSW Nationally approved TF-CBT trainer/consultant Requirements to Attend Training: Participants must be a master’s- or PhD-level clinicians who currently provide therapy to children, adolescents, and their families either at a CAC or in contract with a CAC. Interns are not suitable participants, however provisionally licensed clinicians will be permitted if under the supervision of a licensed clinician. Clinical supervisors are eligible to attend however they must deliver TF-CBT to children and families during the course of the training and consultation year. Complete the TF-CBT web-based learning course prior to the on-site training. Clinicians will need to provide a certificate of completion on the first day of the training. The web-based learning course can be found at tfcbt2.musc.edu. There is a $35 cost, which you will be required to cover. YOU NEED TO PRESENT YOUR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE TRAINING.  Description of Training:  DAY ONE 1.    Learn about the seven principles of trauma in children and adolescents 2.    Learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences study and its implication for TF-CBT delivery 3.    Learn about the neurobiology of trauma in children 4.    Learn about the trauma re-enactment cycle 5.    Learn to administer a trauma-specific standardized assessment instrument  DAY TWO 1. Learn about and practice using interventions for the first five components of TF-CBT (Psychoeducation, Parenting Skills, Relaxation, Affect Regulation, Cognitive Coping) 2.  Learn about the delivery of gradual exposure throughout TF-CBT. DAY THREE 1.    Learn about and practice using interventions for the other four components of TF-CBT (Trauma Narration, In Vivo Exposure to Trauma Reminders, Conjoint/Witnessing, Enhancing Future Resilience) Follow Up Attend consultation videoconference calls approximately 1-2 times/month following the in-person training. Attendance at 12 of the 14 calls is required. Administer, score and interpret a standardized trauma-specific assessment to guide delivery of TF-CBT. Recommendations for specific assessments will be provided at the in-person training. CAC's are responsible for associated costs; however, an effort will be made to identify free or low-cost assessments. Present at least one TF-CBT case during one of the videoconference calls.
